New Addition/Old House

Three years ago we fell in love with a house built in 1928. I was pregnant with our third child and we were in love with the idea of raising our kids in a historic neighborhood. We share the same passion for 'older' things and a time that has long passed. We wanted to be able to walk to dinner, the park, or to parades and events at the historic square. We do live in a big city so there are not a lot of opportunities for this. After a disappointing inspection on our first 'dream house' we walked away from the deal with much sadness. So when we fell in love with our second 'dream house' we tried to be cautious, realistic, and unattached. (Yeah right.) So we bought this adorable house built in 1928. We sat on our front porch swing many nights drinking wine and talking about how much we loved our house and amazing neighborhood. There has been just the one problem. We are a family of five and the house has two bedrooms. So...we decided the girls would share a room, no problem. The baby will sleep in our room, no problem. However, the baby does need to move out eventually. :)

So we found an architect and a builder and it all looked really exciting on paper. Although the loan process is treacherous. For two years we have been trying to make this addition happen. It has been stressful, time consuming, overwhelming and stocked full of what ifs. Yet somehow with much credit due to my persistent and hard working husband...we did it. Papers signed and construction has begun. Yippee!
