Watercolor Painting

I decided to buy some better artist quality paint and colored pencils for the kids. Some of the ones we currently use are just really poor quality. We were all excited about the container of new paint. I saw this project idea on another blog and it was a hit! I took black craft paint mixed with a little water and stamped circles on a paper with a plastic cup. The girls used the new paint to color in the circles and mix colors if they wanted to where the circles overlapped. It was neat to see how they both approached the project differently.

It finally happened...

Two months into our home school year and I thought maybe I really can do this. We had such a harmonious morning of learning. ALL three of my little ones were content and happy while learning and having fun. (For a more extended amount of time than usual) Jude scooted around the room and got in to his current favorite things: the cup full of pencils, the abacus and putting various surprises into Skyla's backpack for her to find when she goes to class on Thursday.

I photocopied the pages that Skyla was supposed to work on so that August could work along with her. They colored different pictures of animals and will cut them out and glue them in boxes designated for daytime or nighttime animals. It was nice to have a project they could both work on.

I have noticed this week that Skyla is catching on to different math concepts that we have been working on. I've realized I need to be more patient and let her truly understand the concepts.

We even had time for watercolor painting this afternoon. I know next week will bring more days when Jude wants to be held or nursed or August is hungry at the same time I'm trying to concentrate with Skyla. I'm definitely not saying we have this figured out or we are all 100% loving it. But today... we did it!

Where's Jude?

Jude is really enjoying our new curtains. He is always scooting underneath them and playing his own quite little one man game of peek a boo.

Bonfire

Thank you all for a great night and wonderful music. My pictures didn't come out, I'm glad for these.

I do have this one.
It cracks me up because they look like they are thinking, " what is that?" Come on boys, I know you have seen a camera before!

Laundry

The girls have taken over part of the laundry area to pretend to wash and dry their baby clothes. The whole thing is a pretty cute scene. I've overheard them talking while they are playing and they have said they live together and are doing their babies laundry together. The game has gone on for about a week now. Skyla even has a "dirty clothes" basket in her room and she brings clothes down stairs to wash and then hangs them to dry, irons them (didn't get that part from me) and puts them back in her basket to take upstairs. I've been on the computer and she will pass by me and say, "just doing a little laundry." Jude isn't really accepted in the laundry space but he keeps trying to be a part of it.

Ballerina

Skyla has started taking a ballet/jazz class with Eryn. She LOVES ballet and says she is going to take it forever. She also proudly tells everyone she is going to be in The Nutcracker. I have explained to her that next year she would need to try out for the company and then she would have a chance to audition for a role in The Nutcracker. I have stopped myself from explaining this again when I hear her announce with such certainty that she will be in the ballet. I like the the confidence in voice and I hope she continues with this dream because I would love to see it come true. In the mean time she loves going to class and I love to see she and Eryn holding hands, giggling and sharing this time together in class.
